CD19 Segment Leading the CAR-T Cell Therapy Market by Targeted Antigen

According to our new research study on “CAR-T Cell Therapy Market Forecast to 2034 – Global Analysis – by targeted antigen, indication, end user, ” the CAR-T cell therapy market size is expected to grow from US$ 4,482.18 million in 2025 to US$ 19,314.55 million by 2034, with a CAGR of 17.6% during 2026–2034. Revenue growth in the CAR-T Cell Therapy Market is driven by increased adoption for hematological malignancies, expanded indications to earlier treatment lines, and greater investment in advanced cell and gene therapy technologies. Rising cases of leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, along with strong clinical evidence of CAR-T efficacy in relapsed or refractory cancers, are fueling market expansion. Efforts are underway to improve treatment accessibility, manufacturing efficiency, product safety, and therapeutic durability. Ongoing advances in cell engineering, gene editing, automated processing, and next-generation CAR designs are producing more potent and persistent CAR-T cells, reducing manufacturing time, and improving consistency. These innovations are also supporting the development of allogeneic and potentially in vivo CAR-T therapies, which are expected to broaden CAR-T applications across more cancer types and patient groups.

Cancer treatment programs are now central to cancer control strategies worldwide, offering benefits such as early diagnosis, timely intervention, and better patient outcomes. Healthcare authorities and professional organizations are promoting access to advanced therapies through national programs, clinical guidelines, and awareness campaigns. As hematological malignancies like leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma become more prevalent, there is a greater need for innovative therapies that deliver lasting results for patients with relapsed or refractory cancers. These factors are driving the adoption of CAR-T cell therapies, especially as regulatory approvals expand. Increased investment in cell and gene therapy infrastructure, specialized centers, and manufacturing is further integrating CAR-T therapies into modern oncology care.

The expansion of CAR-T cell therapy from late-line treatment toward earlier treatment settings is one of the strongest growth drivers for the market because it is increasing the number of patients eligible for these therapies. Initially concentrated on heavily pretreated patients with relapsed or refractory hematological malignancies, CAR-T is increasingly being evaluated and approved in earlier lines of treatment for B-cell lymphomas and multiple myeloma.

The US regulatory landscape illustrates this evolution, with multiple CD19-directed CAR-T products now covering different lymphoma and leukemia populations and BCMA-directed therapies becoming increasingly important in multiple myeloma. By 2026, the US had seven FDA-approved CAR-T therapies covering several blood cancers, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia, multiple myeloma, and multiple types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

A notable recent development was the April 2026 FDA expansion of axicabtagene ciloleucel (Yescarta) to patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma, further broadening the clinical application of CD19 CAR-T therapy. The expansion of treatment lines is commercially important because earlier intervention provides access to a substantially larger patient population than highly restricted fourth- or fifth-line indications. Multiple myeloma is another important contributor, with BCMA-directed CAR-T therapies increasingly competing with other advanced immunotherapies and being evaluated earlier in the disease course. At the same time, developers are moving CAR-T beyond oncology. CD19 CAR-T is being investigated in severe autoimmune diseases, where early clinical evidence has demonstrated substantial immune-system resetting in selected refractory patients. The technology is also being pushed toward solid tumors, historically one of the largest unmet opportunities for CAR-T.

The scope of the CAR-T Cell Therapy market report includes an assessment of the market performance in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Rest of World. In terms of revenue, North America dominated the CAR-T Cell Therapy market share in 2025.

The U.S. represents the largest and most advanced national market for CAR-T cell therapy, supported by a mature regulatory environment, extensive oncology infrastructure, established cell-therapy manufacturing capabilities, and strong reimbursement and clinical research ecosystems. The US FDA currently lists six major autologous CAR-T products, Kymriah, Yescarta, Tecartus, Breyanzi, Abecma, and Carvykti, covering B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, multiple lymphoma subtypes, and multiple myeloma. In 2025, the FDA further expanded the clinical utility of CAR-T by approving Breyanzi for marginal zone lymphoma, while regulatory changes reduced certain administrative requirements associated with approved autologous CAR-T therapies. The U.S. market is also shifting beyond conventional hematological malignancies toward autoimmune diseases, solid tumors, allogeneic CAR-T, and in-vivo CAR-T platforms. In-vivo approaches are attracting substantial investment because they could eliminate or reduce the need for individualized cell collection and ex-vivo manufacturing.

CAR-T development is also increasingly supported by real-world evidence, improved toxicity management, and advances in manufacturing automation. The U.S. accounted for approximately 43.0% of the global CAR-T cell therapy market in 2025, according to one recent market estimate, reflecting its leading position in commercial product availability, treatment centers, clinical research, and reimbursement infrastructure. Despite this strong position, high therapy costs, complex manufacturing and logistics, treatment-center capacity, and management of adverse events remain important barriers. Overall, increasing indications, next-generation manufacturing technologies, and expansion into non-oncology applications are expected to sustain the U.S.'s leadership in the CAR-T cell therapy market.
