The automotive industry is constantly innovating by integrating more and more electronic features into vehicles. This includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous driving features, and telematics, all of which rely on high-speed data communication between various components. EV connectors play a crucial role in enabling these features by providing reliable and efficient data transfer between sensors, cameras, control units, and other electronic systems.

Moreover, several companies are engaged in investing in new technologies in infotainment systems. For instance, in May 2023, Nvidia Corp and MediaTek Inc announced that they will team up on technology to power advanced vehicle infotainment systems that can stream video or games or use artificial intelligence to interact with drivers. In addition, in November 2024, Garmin announced that its Unified Cabin domain controller solution had been recognized as a Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 Innovation Award Honoree in the in-vehicle entertainment category. First revealed at CES 2023, Garmin Unified Cabin is a scalable portfolio of automotive OEM technologies and design innovations that allow automakers to provide a personalized infotainment experience. Such developments are anticipated to boost the EV connector market growth during the forecast period.

Aptiv Plc; TE Connectivity Ltd; Molex LLC; Rosenberger Hochfrequenztechnik GmbH & Co KG; Guchen Electronics; Amphenol Corporation; Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Ltd.; Yazaki Corp; Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd; and KYOCERA Corporation are among the key players profiled in the EV connector market report. Several other major players were also studied and analyzed in the market study to get a holistic view of the market and its ecosystem.

The report includes the EV connector market forecast by type, connection type, propulsion type, voltage, application, and geography. Based on type, the EV connector market is divided into sealed connector and unsealed connector. The sealed connector segment accounted for a major EV connector market share in 2024. In terms of connection type, the EV connector market is categorized into wire-to-wire connection, wire-to-board connection, and board-to-board connection. On the basis of propulsion type, the EV connector is segmented into battery electric vehicle, plug-in hybrid vehicle, fuel cell electric vehicle, and hybrid electric vehicle. On the basis of application, the EV connector market is categorized into ADAS and safety system, body control and interiors, infotainment system, engine management and powertrain, battery management system, vehicle lighting, and others.

The scope of the EV connector market report focuses on North America (the US, Canada, and Mexico), Europe (Spain, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and the Rest of Europe), Asia Pacific (South Korea, China, India, Japan, Australia, and the Rest of Asia Pacific), the Middle East & Africa (South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the Rest of Middle East & Africa), and South & Central America (Brazil, Argentina, and the Rest of South & Central America). Asia Pacific dominated the market in 2024, followed by Europe and North America.

The market in Asia Pacific is segmented into Australia, China, Japan, India, South Korea, and the Rest of APAC. In terms of revenue, China held the largest EV connector market share in APAC. China is the global leader in electric vehicles, accounting for over half of all EVs worldwide and surpassing its 2025 goal for new energy vehicle (NEV) sales. To keep this momentum, in June 2023, the Ministry of Finance (MOF), State Taxation Administration (STA), and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) jointly released the Announcement on Continuing and Optimizing the Vehicle Purchase Tax Reduction and Exemption Policy for New Energy Vehicles. This new tax exemption will take effect on January 1, 2024, and last until December 31, 2027. This four-year extension encourages producers and customers to embrace the shift to electric mobility by creating a more stable and predictable environment. Under the expanded policy, NEV automobiles acquired in China between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, will be exempt from the purchase tax of up to US$ 4,170 per vehicle. This move is expected to boost EV sales even more, leading to greater demand for charging stations and EV connectors. As more vehicles hit the roads, the need for reliable and widely compatible connectors will increase, helping expand and strengthen China’s EV connector market growth.

Europe is experiencing a significant increase in EV connector demand, driven by robust environmental rules and policies, strong green or eco-friendly initiatives, and a significant trend toward transportation electrification. The European Union's commitment to attaining net-zero emissions by 2050 has resulted in strong legislative action, including a ban on internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035 and extensive implementation of the European Green Deal. Countries such as Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands are highly adopting EVs and developing charging infrastructure to promote government green initiatives. Moreover, as public transit fleets and logistics firms electrify, the demand for heavy-duty, fast-charging EV connectors grows. This increases the adoption of EV connectors to facilitate the transfer of electricity and enable charging.
